It was first reported that Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ would receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update towards the end of February, however, the update has already begun.

Samsung blog SamMobile revealed that beta testers in Germany revealed that they have received the update and have screenshots as proof. The blog also stated: "As promised by Samsung, beta testers are first in line, with regular users on Nougat expected to get the update after 24 hours."

The Android Oreo update will introduce newer features, including an enhanced Samsung Experience UX and the device itself will offer better performance.

The availability of the update has begun in Germany, however, there is not confirmation as to when it will reach other regions.

To check if you have received the update, access Settings > Software Update. If it is available, a manual download option will pop up.

The update is just ahead of Samsung's Galaxy S9 unveiling at this year's Mobile World Congress. The South Korean giant has already revealed that it will launch the device on 25 February, one day before the event starts.

With the update making its way to the S8 series, it is quite possible that the Galaxy S9 will already feature it.
