Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer to headline Sony Middle East & Africa Special Event at Gulf

Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer and Sony Artisan, Brian Smith,will share his top five photography secrets when he delivers a keynote address on 7 February at 7pmat this year’s edition of the prestigious Gulf Photo Plus (GPP) Photo Week in Dubai.
Smith will share the ‘Secrets of Great Portrait Photography’ based on his over 30-year experience as a top magazine portrait photographer creating an iconic portrait photograph of the Who’s Who of luminary celebrities, athletes and business executives across the globe. He will also demonstrate his photography techniques using Sony’s latest camera technology through a live shoot, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Professional photographers and photo enthusiasts will have an opportunity to test the latest Sony mirrorless cameras live with Ali Riffai, a Sony Alpha Ambassador and GCC’s award-winning and acclaimed commercial and editorial photographer. In addition, Riffai will talk about ‘Mastering Light: Understanding light shaping tools’, on 8 February at 3.30pm; and ‘Experience the New Era of Digital Imaging’, on 10 February at 2.30 pm.
Sony Middle East & Africa isalso hosting Mayad Studio photographers Jackner John Borja for the ‘What’s in Mayad Studios’ Bag’ session on 7 February at 3:30pm and Raphael Jamil Pranga for the ‘Bridal Elegance’ session on 8 February at 4.30pm. Broja will show what is inside a wedding videographer’s bag as well as provide understanding on what gear is needed at weddings and pre-wedding shoots. Pranga will discuss the essential tricks every videographer must know during a wedding day shoot including his tips on seamlessly directing couples during wedding shoots to achieve natural shots for newlyweds as well as the do’s and don’ts of wedding videography.
Meanwhile,the Sony Photo Friday is back on 9 February, filled with all things photography, where visitors can meet their photography heroes. The 12 unique 90-minute seminars will cover both technical and conceptual elements of photography with world-renowned photographers, namely Nick Fancher, TanyaHabjouqa, TasneemAlsultan, Zack Arias, Kevin Mullins, Hugh Kretschmer, Sara Lando, RC Concepcion, Maggie Steber, TouficAraman and Brian Smith.
At the 14th edition of GPP, ‘Sony Snap Sessions’ is offering an exclusive and hands-on introduction to different photography genres to customers who purchased an Alpha interchangeable lens series and RX series. Those attending the sessions without their own gears and cameras can loan the A6300 at the venue.
Customers can choose from these genres: Basics of Food Photography by Christina Leth; Seeing Beyond the Grey by Hussain AlMoosawi; Intro to Natural Light Portraiture by Caleb Arias and Laura Huntly; and Elements of Automotive Photography by Huntley.
Throughout the first four days of the event, Sony will have an interactive display, product demonstrations including exclusive special offers of its Digital Imaging products at Sony’s booth. Its entire range of flagship cameras including the Alpha A9, A7RIII, RX10 IV and RX0 from RX series as well as the Sony & G Master lenses, will be on display.
Furthermore, attendees for the special talks with Brian Smith, Ali Riffai andMayad Studios will stand a chance to win an A6300 in a raffle draw. Visitors can have a free camera and sensor cleaning session at the Sony booth from 7th until 10th February, 2018.
