In an effort to bolster the region's cyber security capabilities, GE and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) have entered into a strategic partnership that will see the creation and distribution of digital industrial solutions across Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META).
As per the three year agreement, GE and HPE will develop cyber security solutions in Operational Technology, and may move into other digital solutions in the near future.
One of the first projects that the two firms will work on lies with OpSheild from GE Digital, a platform designed to protect critical infrastructure and reduce risk of cyber-related unplanned downtime.
GE Digital Cyber Security solutions will be distributed through the HPE Channel Partner Network across the META region during the first year of the partnership.
Ali Saleh, senior vice president and chief commercial officer for GE Digital MEA said, "This partnership will enable our most important customers and partners in the region to begin the journey of digital transformation in a secure environment.
"HPE has the strongest partner program among peers to manage a partnership of this scope and scale, to bolster a secure digital ecosystem, and reach customers quickly through an innovative business model."
Elsewhere, GE Digital and HPE are also in discussions to introduce Predix-based applications into the market. Designed for the Industrial-Internet-of-Things, Predix helps to integrate machines, data, and the users under one platform.
Johannes Koch, managing director, Middle East and Africa for HPE said, "This agreement for Middle East, Africa & Turkey builds on our global partnership with GE to help our customers and partners take advantage of the Industrial-Internet-of-Things and drive digital transformation across their business."
He added: "The requirement for security in both information technology and operational technology environments, and the need to protect critical infrastructures, makes this an ideal opportunity for our partners."
