du has launched its Youth Council in the UAE as part of the International Youth Day Celebrations. The Council has been specifically created with an aim to empower the UAE youth and enhance their contribution towards the nation's development through ICT. Furthermore with the enormous potential this sector holds, it aims to be a platform that will enable them to unlock their career potential. Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth said: "The UAE and its leaders strongly support this investment in the people they consider the cornerstone of development and progress. The du Youth Council will undoubtedly empower and support the youth by utilising ICT as a platform; it will also allow us as a nation to enable them to voice their aspirations and creative ideas before the leadership, allowing us to develop them." Osman Sultan, CEO of EITC (du), added: "At du, we continue to focus on unlocking the potential of our future leaders of tomorrow, and we are looking at new ways to innovate and add value for the next generation of Emirati ICT trailblazers. "Being a part of the incredible BUNYAN Initiative, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, further enables us to cement our commitment to the UAE youth segment through mentorship, guidance and empowerment. The du Youth Council will be the main force behind our digitalisation process and our journey towards a smart future in line with government direction and UAE Vision 2021."
du hopes that the council will be a "pacemaker for change and a unified and sustainable platform to engage decision makers in youth-led organisations and initiatives".
