John Gruber tweeted that the upcoming models will not feature wireless charging.
In the lead up to Apple's official iPhone launch in September, it has been leaked that wireless charging technology will feature in the upcoming 2017 models, however a tech blogger has revealed this may be delayed.
John Gruber tweeted that the upcoming models will not feature wireless charging but instead will be compatible with a wireless charging accessory, however this may be delayed and not launch until iOS 11.1 is released.
Gruber also adds that the wireless charging accessory will not be included in the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and iPhone 8 packaging, leaving the customer to decide whether they want the additional feature.
Other rumours around wireless charging have revealed that the iPhone could feature ‘long-range' wireless charging, as reports have suggested the device will include Qi technology.
As always with rumours these claims have not been confirmed by Apple. With 9 weeks until the launch, we will have to wait and see.
