Twitter records rise in activity during Ramadan

Twitter recorded that activity increased by an average of 26.3% and there were over 10.7 billion impressions related to Ramadan 2016

Twitter has revealed that overall activity on the social networking site increased during the month of Ramadan.

As the holy month approaches, Twitter expects organisations will begin with their campaigns to engage followers in the lead up to Ramadan.

During Ramadan 2016, Twitter recorded that activity increased by an average of 26.3% and there were over 10.7 billion impressions related to Ramadan, with related trending topics such as, food, cooking, religion, health and wellness and TV shows.

Statistics also indicated that, in comparison to 2015, the overall Twitter activity increased by 88% YoY, with the MENA region being home to more than 50% of the world's Ramadan content. Furthermore, Twitter witnessed that conversations were at its highest levels post Iftar and continued until early morning.

Within the region, overall usage and activities increased by 28% in Saudi Arabia, 27% in the UAE and 24% in Egypt.
