Oman's ONEIC nabs $700,000 power contract

ONEIC has won six contracts in 2018.au

Mazoon Electricity Company has awarded the Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC) a six-figure contract to build electricity lines in Al Sharqiyah north governorate.

Under the $769,469 (OMR295, 861) agreement, ONEIC will construct an undisclosed number of 11kv power lines in the Omani governorate.

The contract spans 270 days and work is expected to start on 7 May, 2018.

It is the sixth contract the business has won this year.

ONEIC’s chief executive officer, Rashid Bin Mohammed Al Ghalani, confirmed the contract win in a financial update filed with the Muscat Securities Market.

ONEIC's contract with Mazoon Electrcity Company was the latter's first contract win of the month. But it came after the contractor had already secured three deals in April 2018.

ONEIC was awarded a $7.2m (OMR2.7m) contract by Sultan Qaboos University at the end of April. This contract covered operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as civil maintenance of the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.

ONEIC said it would start working on the two-year contract on 1 July, 2018, and would complete the scope in 2020.

A $9.2m (OMR3.5) three-year contract from Dhofar Power Company was awarded to ONEIC to carry out recovery and default management services.

ONEIC won a $2.4m (OMR940,755) contract from the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, also for recovery and default management services earlier that month.

The number of contract wins for the business so far this year, six, puts it on track to at least match the total number of new contracts secured last year, 14.
