Masdar Park, an outdoor dining and entertainment destination at Masdar City, has reopened with additional attractions. According to a company statement, the park is now double in size, measuring 2,500sq m and includes a jogging trail, exercise equipment, a children’s playground, a music wall, sports facilities and more food and beverage outlets. The park now features eight food and beverage outlets, created from brightly coloured shipping containers, that serve both local and international food.
In keeping with Masdar’s role in promoting environmental sustainability, every outlet is equipped with rooftop solar panels while visitors can recharge their smart-phones and other devices at special solar-powered park benches. A prime new attraction is the ‘Tree of Light’, which changes colour with 'human interaction', the release said. “We’re excited to have Masdar Park up and running again,” said Yousef Baselaib, executive director of sustainable real estate, Masdar. “The park contributes to our vision for a live, work and play culture by providing families with outdoor recreation. Masdar Park was extremely popular with the local community before it closed for expansion; now it’s big enough to support Masdar City’s new tenants and the continued growth of the city’s community.” Open daily from 9am to 10pm, Masdar Park will host music, games and other community activities on weekends until The Festival at Masdar City, which will be held on January 19 and 20. The festival will be a sustainability-themed celebration held at the end of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
