Contract inked to build Saudi-funded $58m hospital in Jordan

A 500-bed hospital funded by the Saudi Development Fund will be built in Jordan [representational

A contract has been signed to build a hospital, worth $57.6m, in Jordan.

The Princess Basma Hospital in Irbid will be funded through a grant issued by the Saudi Development Fund.

Sami Halasa, Jordan's Minister of Public Works and Housing, signed the agreement with representatives from a consortium of Alawi Asaad Tunsi Establishment Corp, and Arabian International Construction and Contracting Corporation.

Spanning 74,000m2, the hospital will feature 500 beds.

Work on the project will begin mid-November, with a ceremony to lay its foundation stone expected shortly after.

Completion is due within a period of three years, during which sustainability, operation, and staff training and recruitment programmes will also be drawn up.

Hani Mulki, the Prime Minister of Jordan, attended the signing ceremony, Jordan's state news agency, Petra, reported.
