Big 5 Outdoor Show to host 11 workshops
The upcoming Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show 2017 in Dubai, UAE will host 11 CPD-certified workshops covering urban design, smart landscape, waste management, irrigation and more. Running from 25-27 September in Hall 3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the exhibition is a specialised trade event for the landscaping infrastructure & urban development industry, with a special focus on design, build, and construction of all public and private spaces. The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show’s education agenda will be kicked off by a Design theme on Day One, followed by a general overview of the industry on Day Two, and closing on Day Three with Sustainability and Smart related topics. There will be 11 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified workshops in total, which visitors will be able to attend for free. Hosting the hour-long sessions will be some of the biggest names in their respective fields, such as vice president of Design DXB Entertainments, Mornè Fourie. Looking into the master planning brief for Dubai Parks and Resorts, Fourie will provide insight into the relevant components of mega projects. Principal landscape architect at SSH, Boris Fabinski will cover the existing landscape of cities and assess how to facilitate walkability and outdoor activities within them, he insists that educational features are a “Must go for industry professionals.” Talking specifically about The Outdoor Design & Build Show 2017, Fabinski said: “Dubai is the driver when it comes to development and progress in the regional industry and beyond.” Rakesh Pardasani, partner at RSM Dahman of Audit Accounts Advisory, will be holding VAT Considerations on the Design & Build Industry on the second day of talks. “Design contributes significantly to Dubai’s on-going prosperity and attractiveness to international business,” said Pardasani. “Shows like these are great business platforms for build, construction, and innovation.” Other topics covered by the general overview workshops on day two include an analysis of leveraging BIM for landscape and urban design, to be offered by Christopher Smeaton - BIM manager of Landscape, Urban Planning & Design, InSite. Final day seminars will begin with Sameer Kulkarni, executive Director of Dubai Properties, consolidating sustainability into the practical context by assessing financial incentives as well as providing examples of successfully evolved projects. Bringing the educational offering to a regional focus will be John Sullivan, building physics consultant at BuroHappold Engineering, who will look specifically at outdoor thermal comfort and the technologies which help designers expand comfortable zones in warm climates. Aside from the education agenda at The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show, products and solutions will be displayed in four main sectors; landscaping, outdoor design & build, water technology & management, and infrastructure & urban development. A Sports Feature will also be presented by Raymond Sport, and supported by Tentara UAE as Tent & Shading Partner. The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show is organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, and will be co-located with FM EXPO, Windows, Doors & Facades Event, and Gulf Glass, bringing more products, more knowledge and more networking opportunities for all visitors.
