Sharjah Public Works Department completes $7m student housing
The Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) has completed construction works on a student housing project worth $7.1m (AED26m).
The student housing units are located on the campus of Al Qasimia University, according to UAE state news agency, WAM.
The project comprises 31 rooms, as well as a number of classrooms and living room facilities, and combines modern architectural features with traditional Islamic design elements.

Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, chairman of SPWD, said that the housing project was implemented in response to an increase in the number of students at Al Qasimia University, which he described as one of the country's most specialised universities in Islamic studies.
With the student housing project, SPWD aims to provide the university’s students with modern housing and a safe environment, WAM added.
