City Centre Ajman's $163m expansion nears completion
City Centre Ajman's $163.3m (AED600m) redevelopment project, being implemented to increase the mall's size, will be completed by the end of this year.
The mall, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim, will double in size – from 29,000m2to 52,000m2– upon the project's completion.
Expansion works will be followed by a refurbishment and redesign of the existing mall.
The number of car parking spaces will increase from 1,600 to 3,200, with a shaded parking area to be developed adjacent to the mall for the convenience of shoppers.
Mall operations for tenants and visitors are continuing normally during the expansion.
Temporary parking facilities have been developed at the mall, with new entry and exit roads, and signage, installed to guide visitors.
As part of the expansion operation, the mall's facilities are being upgraded with more prayer rooms.
Restrooms are being installed with water-saving fittings, and LED lighting units are being set up across the facility.
More than 10 stores, including those of Max and Daiso, will be added to the mall as part of the redevelopment, while an existing Starbucks outlet is also being renovated.
The mall's Vox Cinemas facility has been expanded with more screens and theatres designed for children.
Remarking on the expansion, Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, managing director for Majid Al Futtaim Properties – Shopping Malls (UAE, Bahrain, and Oman), said: "We are excited for new [food and beverage] and retail stores to be joining our vibrant mall and offering our customers much more variety by the end of this year.
"With more than 150 stores and food options, we are confident that City Centre Ajman will be the lifestyle destination of choice for residents and tourists in the months to come."
