Abu Dhabi govt offices to relocate to Zayed City by 2020

UAE federal government offices will be moving to a new diplomatic headquarters at the under construction Zayed City in Abu Dhabi upon its completion.

The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) also said that it will be mandatory for all diplomatic missions to move to the city, which is being built between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Mohammed bin Zayed City, according to Arabian Business.

Infrastructure work has started on the mixed-use district, which is scheduled to be completed by 2020, said Hamad Al Mutawa, senior planning manager, planning and policy department, UPC.

He said: “It will be mandatory for all federal offices and diplomatic missions to shift to the city's federal and diplomatic districts after they are completed.”

Al Mutawa added that the move will solve a lot of land issues in Abu Dhabi and will help reduce traffic around the city.

“These districts have been approved and Musanada [Abu Dhabi General Services Company] is developing the infrastructure,” he said.

Work has started on the southern spine of the project with the northern spine, diplomatic and federal precincts commencing construction soon after.
