Hill lands Saadiyat Island resort contract
Hill International, a global leader in managing construction risk, said it has secured a major contract to provide project management services for a new resort development coming up at Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The initial one-year contract worth Dh7 million ($2 million) has been awarded by the Sheikh Suroor Projects Department, said a statement from the US-based company. Saadiyat Island is located just off the coast of Abu Dhabi and is currently undergoing major development, with an approximate completion date of 2020. It will feature various commercial, residential and leisure projects and is expected to become the UAE capital's cultural centre. The island's cultural district will eventually include eight museums designed by renowned architects such as Jean Nouvel, Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid. The new Saadiyat Island resort development to be managed by Hill will feature 293 rooms with a built-up area of 113,000 sq m, said the statement. "Saadiyat Island will be an incredible destination for visitors to the region," remarked Mohammed Al Rais, the regional president (Middle East) for Hill's Project Management Group. This new resort development for Sheikh Suroor will become one of the premier hospitality destinations on the island, stated Al Rais. "We are very honored to be part of this exciting project,"
