PwC to carry out study of UAE’s electricity sector

PwC has been commissioned by the UAE Ministry of Energy to analyse the country's electricity demand.

The UAE Ministry of Energy has entered into a contract with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), commissioning the firm to undertake a study of the country’s electricity sector.

The contract was signed on Sunday by Dr Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, and officials from PwC.

News agency WAM, quoting Al Neyadi, said the study will be funded by the national electricity and water authorities.

It will cover the Emirates National Grid and will require PwC to evaluate the sector’s plans and policies for production, distribution, and operation, as well as forecast future energy demand.

The study will also involve risk assessment and identification of solutions and opportunities, as well as submission of recommendations that will ensure that increasing demand on power will be met.
