KIZAD hosts UAE’s first banknote printing facility
Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Saturday, presided over the opening of Oumolat Security Printing, located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).
Sheikh Mohammed, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the official inauguration of the banknote printing company.
The first of its kind in the region, the facility is equipped with fully integrated, advanced security and protection systems.
According to Dubai Media Office, Sheikh Mohammed received from HH Sheikh Mansour the first AED1,000 note, which bears the number “1”, printed by the company.
In his remarks during the event, Sheikh Mohammed noted that the UAE’s economic growth will be achieved through the clear strategy laid out in the UAE Vision 2021. The UAE’s success, he added, has created a unique model for human development, as well as for building a sustainable and diverse economy and ensuring the happiness of all members of its society.
Also present during the unveiling were HE Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future; HE Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, the Minister of State for Financial Affairs; and Mubarak Rashed Al Mansoori, the governor of the UAE Central Bank, who briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the facility’s production machinery.
