The government of Bahrain has signed a multimillion dollar contract with the Saudi Development Fund (SDF) to build 1,265 units, type D11 as part of the Al-Ramli housing project.
The Ministry of Housing signed the construction contracts in a package costing $150m (BHD56.7m), according to Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
Bassim bin Yacoub Al-Hamer, Bahrain’s Housing Minister, sealed the agreements along with the constructions companies.
The signing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance; Dr Abdulla bin Abdulmalik Al-Sheikh, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain; and SDF representatives.
The construction contract was awarded to Al-Mezeal Construction and Services, Luqman Al-Haddad Construction Company, Mohammed Saif Ajlan Al-Mannai, and Al-Nisr Construction Company.
The ministry had already signed an agreement with SDF to construct 1,560 units as part of Phase 1 of the Southern Town project in package costing $152.8m (BHD57.6m), as part of the Gulf Development Plan.
"The projects feature on the Government Action Plan (GAP) to construct 25,000 units, in line with the royal order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to provide 40,000 units,” a minister was quoted saying.
