DEWA completes 67% of $57m water distribution project

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has completed 67.3% of the 162km of the water project to supply, extend and commission water distribution networks.
With 109km of the project being completed, the total of the cost of project is $57m (AED210m).
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said: "The main objective of the project is to develop water distribution networks in Al Khawaneej 2, TechnoPark, and other new areas in Dubai, to improve operational efficiencies and increase the flow of water to meet the rapid growth in water in various parts of Dubai.”
According to Al Tayer, the project includes 450- and 100-millimetre-diameter extensions of GRE (Glass-Reinforced Epoxy) main water pipelines.
He added that the implementation of the project is going "according to plan, and is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.”
